A festive thank you to our brilliant volunteers

This festive season, we want to say a huge thank you to our fantastic volunteers for everything you do to make our progress possible.

From powering our events with your enthusiasm and passion, to serving shoppers with a smile in Trading, to making your voices heard in Westminster – together, you play a vital role in supporting our life-saving research.

And it’s thanks to research that people affected by cancer can enjoy more precious moments, during the festive season and beyond. Every hour you give makes a difference.

Michelle Mitchell, our Chief Executive, has recorded a special video message to thank you for the incredible contribution you’ve made to Cancer Research UK this year. Hear from Michelle below:

Beating cancer for everyone: our refreshed EDI strategy

Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) matters to Cancer Research UK because it plays a vital role in achieving our vision of a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the cancer. And we really do mean everybody. For us, success means no one is left behind.

Over the last year, volunteers have shared their input and feedback alongside Cancer Research UK staff, subject matter experts and people affected by cancer to help shape our refreshed EDI strategy.

This strategy will build on the progress we’ve made since launching our first EDI strategy in 2021 – from reaching tens of thousands of people from underserved communities through our Cancer Awareness Roadshow, to addressing cancer inequalities by advocating for sustainable smoking cessation funding as part of our Smokefree UK campaign. It will help us to keep improving over the next five years, so we can continue to be a charity where everyone feels like they belong, benefits from and participates in the work we do.
