Safeguarding at Cancer Research UK

Cancer Research UK is committed to safeguarding the wellbeing of its staff, volunteers, beneficiaries and other people who come into contact with the charity through all of its diverse range of activities.

Cancer Research UK has policies and guidance in place which set out the steps that Cancer Research UK has taken to minimise the risk of a safeguarding incident or concern occurring in the first place, for example through robust onboarding processes (including DBS checks where appropriate) and provision of training. The policies and guidance also let staff know how to spot, report and respond to incidents and concerns, and provide them with assurance that any incidents and concerns will be handled sensitively, taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately.

Cancer Research UK reviews these policies and guidance regularly to ensure that we are maintaining appropriate safeguarding standards.

How to report a safeguarding incident/concern

If you are a member of staff or a Cancer Research UK volunteer, you can confidentially report a concern by emailing safeguarding@cancer.org.uk or go via the usual internal channels on the Cancer Research UK intranet.
