Opportunity Information

About the project

Researchers at Newcastle University are developing FatigueSense — a free mobile app designed to help people understand and manage fatigue in everyday life. The team is now exploring how well the app works for people affected by cancer‑related fatigue.

What people will do

People who take part will be asked to download and use the FatigueSense app as part of their daily routine over several weeks. They will then share their experiences — what works well, what feels difficult, and what they think could be improved.

Who they are looking for

They are looking for adults living with or beyond cancer who experience fatigue. No technical knowledge is needed, but people will need a smartphone and a compatible smartwatch such as an Apple Watch, Fitbit, Garmin, or similar.

Why this involvement matters

Feedback from people affected by cancer will guide the next stage of development. Their experiences will help the researchers understand whether the app is clear, supportive, and genuinely useful in everyday life.

How they’ll use people’s views

The team will use people’s suggestions to improve how the app looks, feels, and functions. They will also share back the changes they make, so people can see how their input has influenced the final design.

How to take part

Interested individuals can register their interest directly through the project website.

If anyone has questions, needs support, or would like help deciding whether this opportunity is right for them, they can contact the research team at n.y.aboagye2@newcastle.ac.uk or through the FatigueSense website.
