Overview
- These panels help shape the work of Cancer Research UK to ensure it meets the needs of people affected by cancer.
- Participants can share feedback on various projects across the charity.
- No prior knowledge of Cancer Research UK or scientific expertise is required to join.
The panels
Research & Strategy Panel:
- Focuses on research strategy, improving clinical trial delivery, and encouraging researchers to involve people affected by cancer.
Policy & Communications Panel:
- Focuses on fundraising campaigns, online information for patients and families, and efforts to influence the Government and the NHS.
Key Details
Duration: 2 years
Commitment: A 2-3 hour online meeting once a month and occasional email consultations. Our meetings will occur on weekdays in both daytime and evening.
Payment: Based on the number of consultations participated in. Typically, £30-£50 per month

- Anyone who has a personal experience of cancer (either personally or through a loved one)
- 18+ years old
- A UK resident

Meet a Cancer Insights Panel member
Faaria was diagnosed with indolent follicular lymphoma in 2010. Following her diagnosis, she underwent chemotherapy and a stem cell harvest. Throughout her treatment, Faaria chose to get involved with our work. Although she struggles with long-term side effects, the panel is virtual which means Faaria can still get involved and feel valued as a member of the team.
Being a member has been easy and felt natural. The best part of being on the panel is bonding with other members who have been affected by cancer. Quite quickly it felt like meeting with friends and there’s a mutual understanding and respect for each other.
