TCS London Marathon 2027

I have seen the TCS London Marathon is a two-day event for 2027 is this correct?

This is correct, there will be one marathon on Saturday 24th April 2027 and one marathon on Sunday 25th April 2027

Will Cancer Research UK have Charity places available on the Saturday?

Yes, we have confirmed places on both the Saturday and the Sunday for 2027.

I have already applied for a Charity place to run for Cancer Research UK before the two-day event was announced, will I still be running on the Sunday?

If you have already applied for a place before the two-day event was announced you will still be in contention to run on either the Saturday or Sunday event as these places are randomly allocated across the days

I have been offered a Charity place to run for Cancer Research UK in the 2027 TCS London Marathon but I'm not sure what day I am running on, how do I find out?

The day you will be running on will be confirmed once you have completed your Next Steps email that you receive from the event organiser's console; Let's Do This. Please check your confirmation email for this information once completed with Let's Do This. Once you have fully registered you can also contact our Supporter Services Team and they will be able to confirm what day you are running on. You can always give us a call on 0300 123 5461 or email supporter.services@cancer.org.uk for further help.

I have been offered a place to run on the Saturday but I can only do the Sunday, can I swap which day I run?

Unfortunately, you will be randomly allocated a day to run on and these will be non-transferable to the other day. If you can no longer take part due to extenuating circumstances, we may be able to defer your place to 2028. You can always give us a call on 0300 123 5461 or email supporter.services@cancer.org.uk for further help.

Will Cancer Research UK be present on both days?

Yes, we will be present on both days to cheer our supporters on and offer post-race event celebrations. Details will be added to the following page once they have been confirmed, so please keep a look out: On the day information for your event | Cancer Research UK

I have signed up to fundraise for Cancer Research UK with my ballot place that I secured directly from the event organiser, does it matter which day I am running on?

No, it doesn't matter which day you are running on with your ballot place, you will still be able to fundraise for us as usual!

I have more questions about the 2027 event and how the two days work, where else can I find information?

The event organiser, London Marathon Events, also have an FAQ page which contains all participant information, please see the following link for more information: 2027 TCS London Marathon Double FAQs - London Marathon Events

I am expected to complete the Marathon in over 7 hours and 45 minutes, and have seen that there is a cut off time on the Saturday. Do I need to do anything?

If you are expected to finish past the cut off time for London Marathon, please get in contact with our Supporter Services team so that we can be made aware. You can always give us a call on 0300 123 5461 or email supporter.services@cancer.org.uk for further help.

Race pack

When will I receive my race pack (e.g. Running number, race guide, timing chip etc)?

Your race pack will be sent to you by the event organiser, not Cancer Research UK. Please check the organiser’s website for full details.

Minimum fundraising amount

I want to run for Cancer Research UK, but don’t want to commit to a minimum fundraising amount, what should I do?

You’ll need to book a place through the event organiser. Once you have completed this we'd love for you to join Team Cancer Research UK and raise vital funds for people affected by cancer.

Why do I have to commit to a minimum fundraising amount – surely any money I raise should be enough?

Each charity place at an event represents an important and valuable source of fundraising for us. As we have made an investment to be able to offer places at events, we therefore ask each applicant to pledge to raise a minimum level of sponsorship if they subsequently take part in an event. This level has been set to try and ensure that we can continue to make 80p of every pound raised available to beat cancer.  We can of course provide help and advice with your fundraising activities if required. You can find lots of fundraising ideas here or alternatively give us a call on 0300 123 5461 or email supporter.services@cancer.org.uk.

Sold out events

But what if the ballot has ended or the event has sold out?

Cancer Research UK may still have places available – search for your event and find out more details.

Fundraising target

What happens if I don’t reach my target?

We know that committing to raise a specific amount can seem a bit daunting which is why we’re here to help every step of the way. If you have a place with us and are struggling with your fundraising then please do get in touch. We have lots of experience with fundraising, and can give you some great advice, tips and fundraising materials to help you smash your target. You can start by checking out our A-Z fundraising guide and our downloadable sports materials.

We’d hate for you to feel as though you haven’t got any support. There’s lots we can do to help and please remember that we wouldn’t ever ask you to pay any shortfall of your sponsorship or stop you from taking part in your event. You can always give us a call on 0300 123 5461 or email supporter.services@cancer.org.uk for further help.

Sponsorship form

Where can I get a sponsorship form?

You should’ve received one in your fundraising pack but, if you need more, just click here to find sponsorship forms and some other fundraising materials you might find useful!

T-shirt size

My t-shirt/vest is the wrong size – how can I change it?

We want all of our team to look great in our Cancer Research UK technical tops so, if the size isn’t quite right, give us a quick call on 0300 123 5461 or email supporter.services@cancer.org.uk. Just let us know your size (S, M, L, XL, XXL) and whether you’d like a t-shirt or a vest, and we’ll get one out to you ASAP! We can also send you iron-on-letters for your name or a nickname (keep it clean!) so people can cheer you on and make you feel like a hero at your event!

Paying in your money

When does my money need to be in by?

Any money that you’ve raised on Just Giving will come through to us automatically. You’ll just need to make sure that you close your fundraising page once you’ve received your final donation.

If you’ve been raising money with a paper sponsorship form then we ask that you return this money to us as soon as possible, but in any event within four weeks of the date of the Event. Further information about getting these funds to us can be found in the Pay in your money section of the Cancer Research UK.

Please note that all monies that you do raise in connection with the event are held on trust for Cancer Research UK, and therefore you have a legal responsibility to ensure that all sponsorship monies/donations received in connection with an event are paid to us.

Fundraising tips

Do you have any fundraising tips?

The easiest way to start your fundraising is to set up a Online Fundraising Page You’ll need to make sure that your page stands out though by personalising it as much as possible. The three easiest ways are to:

  1. Add a photo of yourself, your team or who you’re running for

  2. Set a fundraising target. We’d always encourage you to be as ambitious as possible with what you hope to raise)

  3. You’re doing something amazing so make sure you write about your personal motivation for taking on your challenge!

We've seen that fundraisers who do these three things raise, on average, roughly 50% more than those who don’t!

Don’t be afraid to move away from just relying on donations from friends and family as well though. Get creative and plan some activities to support your fundraising. Whether it’s a bake sale or a quiz night, there are any number of great ways to get the sponsorship rolling in. For ideas, check out our A-Z fundraising guide . If you need advice about any of this just give us a call on 0300 123 5461 or email us supporter.services@cancer.org.uk.

Fundraising pack

I’ve already got a place for the event, how do I request a fundraising pack?
