What could this look like for my Relay?

There are many different ways to arrange your Relay at home. Here are just a few ideas:

Example one: Re-create your Relay virtually

  • Set a day – maybe the original date of your Relay.
  • Choose five activities, e.g. create your team banner, Relay outfits, camp in your garden, make something purple and Relay laps. 
  • Consider having an opening, closing and Candle of Hope ceremony – you can find some tips on how to do this on the activity page.
  • Promote your Relay at home in the weeks leading up to the day. Ask Relayers to join in as many of the activities as they can and share on social media.
  • On the day, create a buzz by sharing, liking and commenting on social media posts shared by your Relayers.

Example two: Relay month / weekends

  • Select the month or weekends you think would best work for your community.
  • Choose the activities e.g. week 1: camp in your garden, week 2: Relay alphabet etc.
  • Before each weekend, set your Relayers the challenge of doing the set activity over that week. This could be in teams or individually – ask them to share what they’re doing on social media. 
  • Interact with your Relayers by liking, commenting and sharing their posts. 

Example three: One off activity 

  • Select an activity that would appeal most to your Relay community, e.g. Relay alphabet. 
  • Promote the activity to your Relayers and ask them to all take part over a month.
  • Ask Relayers to share what they’re doing on social media and interact with their posts by liking, commenting and sharing.
