Fundraising groups
What are fundraising groups?
Our fundraising groups come in all shapes and sizes and can be found up and down the UK, from the Channel Islands to the Outer Hebrides and online, meeting to organise fundraising events and activities.
By joining a fundraising group, you’ll not only be raising both awareness and money for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving research, but you’ll also be honing your skills in things like event management, logistics and organisation at the same time! If you want to start your own group, you’ll get our full support to help make your activities a huge success and bring your fundraising ideas to life.
You don’t need specific skills to be a group member or to start a group, a simple passion for supporting people affected by cancer is all it takes to belong!
Everyone has a part to play – Beating cancer is a team effort.
Why are fundraising groups important?
Our research isn’t possible without supporters like you. Fundraising groups play such an important and valuable role – in the last 2 years alone, they contributed more than £9m to our life-saving research! That's more than enough to fund a research group at each of our 4 research institutes for an entire year.
With you by our side, we'll keep funding research, raise awareness and develop policies that could save more lives in the years to come.

The South Wales Cancer Crusaders
A close group of friends formed the South Wales Cancer Crusaders in 2019 after many of their family and friends had experienced cancer and its impact. The group members – 25 young men – take on tough physical challenges every year – these have included a 100km walk in 24 hours, the Three Peaks Challenge, a 128-mile cycle, an 85-mile canoe and their challenge of climbing Ten Y Fan.
The group is extremely passionate about fundraising – they also have lots of other commitments such as working full time and taking care of young children. They manage activity around their busy schedules and do things that allow them the freedom to make decisions that work well for them and for the charity. They do all the planning, organisation and promotion for their activity themselves, with the benefit of having the full support of their local Cancer Research UK Relationship Manager.
The group has so far raised around £60,000! Take a look at what the group is currently getting up to.
