Our research nurses
Our Senior Research Nurses facilitate the delivery of high quality clinical trials and studies, getting new treatments into the clinic sooner. They are experts in the delivery of clinical cancer research, and a key interface between researchers, health professionals and people affected by cancer.
We fund 15 Senior Research Nurses across the UK, where they work closely with our research infrastructure, including CRUK Centres, Clinical Trials Units (CTUs) and Experimental Cancer Medicine Centres (ECMCs).
Benefits of working with us
The core role of our research nurses is to raise awareness of, and recruitment to cancer clinical trials. They are a network of experts in all phases of oncology research, and have the skills and practical experience to support the delivery of clinical trials in the NHS.
Our nurses can help you design and deliver high quality clinical research projects through:
-
Promotion of clinical trials and recruitment of cancer patients
-
Involving patients and people affected by cancer at the study design stage
-
Advice on design and delivery of cancer clinical studies and trials at all phases, including insight into issues faced by people affected by cancer and the practicalities of recruitment
If you'd like to find out more about working with us, please contact us to discuss your study.
Our role in the CRUK network
In addition to supporting clinical trials, our nurses drive delivery of our research strategy locally by:
-
Acting as local champions for our major translational research initiatives
-
Supporting CRUK initiatives to increase patient and public involvement (PPI) in research, and contributing to local PPI activities
-
Providing mentoring, leadership, education and support for oncology and research nurses
-
Helping to ensure that practice-changing research and emerging cancer treatments benefit patients sooner by supporting dissemination of results amongst nurses and clinicians
If you think we may be able to work together to beat cancer sooner, please contact us to discuss your project.
