Reporting research outputs
We use Researchfish to capture the outputs and impacts of your research.
Our funded researchers are required to submit a report every year an award is active and for three years after an award has ended, so we can capture outputs that take longer to materialise.
Outputs can be entered at any point in the year but must be formally submitted during the annual submission window.
The 2025 submission window is open from 3 February to 13 March. Researchfish provides detailed information on how to use their system if you need support.
How to make your submission
You’ll be notified via email when your Cancer Research UK grant has been added to the Researchfish system. This email will either invite you to create a new Researchfish account or ask you to link your award to an existing account.
Submission tips:
-
Note which of your awards require a submission by reviewing the response codes – submission is mandatory for response code 1 and 4 and optional for response code 5 awards if you have new information to add.
-
Review any outputs pre-populated by Researchfish for accuracy and amend if necessary.
-
Add any missing relevant outputs to your account and attribute them to your awards, aiming to provide a well-rounded overview of actual outputs instead of projections.
-
Use search fields to look up your publications, spinouts and further funding and select from pre-populated data.
-
Update any outputs from previous years that have changed or evolved, for example, adding information on impact.
-
Add a delegate to administer your account on your behalf but note that only the lead Principal investigator can submit the award.
-
Invite collaborators as research team members so they can attribute relevant outputs from their account to your award.
-
Link your ORCID record to import relevant outputs to your account.
-
Make sure you formally submit your award once complete.
The Researchfish question set is used by researchers working in many different disciplines. We don’t expect you to report outputs in every section.
How we use the information you submit
Researchfish submissions are vital to helping us report and evaluate our shared progress.
We use these submissions to help us monitor progress against our research strategy, understand the impact we're having over time and to spot great case studies that we can share with our supporters.
We do not use Researchfish data to evaluate, rank or score individual research projects. Information entered on Researchfish is collected on behalf of the funders and cannot be used for commercial purposes.
