Meet our scientific committee

Anirban Maitra.

Anirban Maitra

Anirban Maitra is Director of the GI Cancer Center and Associate Director of Translational Research at the Perlmutter Cancer Center. His lab aims to improve the survival of patients with pancreatic cancer through earlier detection, cancer interception and rational therapies.

Dieter Saur.

Dieter Saur

Dieter is a physician–scientist and Professor of the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK), Head of the Division of Translational Cancer Research at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), and Director of the Institute of Experimental Cancer Therapy at the Technical University of Munich. His lab focuses on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms that drive therapy resistance, immune evasion, and subtype‑specific evolution in gastrointestinal cancers, with a primary focus on pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).

Headshot of Giulia Biffi.

Giulia Biffi

Giulia Biffi is a Group Leader at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, co-lead of the pancreatic cancer programme at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Centre and a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow. Her lab aims to develop tailored therapeutics for groups of pancreatic tumours by targeting malignant cell-fibroblast crosstalk in primary and secondary micro-environments.
